About The Destination

Experience Gorumara National Park & Lataguri

Nestled in the floodplains of the Murti and Raidak rivers in the Jalpaiguri district, Gorumara National Park is a jewel of the Dooars region. Spanning 80 square kilometers of moist deciduous and riverine forests, it was declared a National Park in 1994.

Gorumara is celebrated for its strategic network of jungle watchtowers—most notably the Jatraprasad Watchtower (named after a legendary forest elephant), Rhino Observation Point, and Medla Watchtower. From these elevated observation blinds overlooking natural salt licks, visitors can safely watch wild rhinos, massive Indian gaurs (bison), and elephant herds in their natural habitat.

The charming adjoining forest hamlet of Lataguri serves as the gateway to the park, lined with eco-resorts, tribal folk dance performances, and serene river beaches along the Murti River.
