Experience Darjeeling Ropeway
Originally established in 1968, the Darjeeling Ropeway is India’s first passenger cable car system. The 45-minute round-trip journey glides from Singamari (at 7,000 ft) down to Tukvar (at 6,000 ft), traveling 3 kilometers over emerald green tea plantations and the Little Rangeet river gorge.
Riders in the modern enclosed gondolas are treated to bird’s-eye views of lush terraced tea bushes, waterfalls cascading down rock faces, and women pluckers in traditional conical hats filling bamboo baskets with world-famous Darjeeling tea leaves.
On clear days, the entire snow-clad Kanchenjunga mountain range looms grandly in the distance, providing a thrilling aerial photographic perspective.
