Constructed between 2006 and 2013 to commemorate the 2550th birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha, Tathagata Tsal (Buddha Park) in Ravangla is one of the grandest spiritual monuments in the Himalayas. Consecrated by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the park features an awe-inspiring 130-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Buddha.
The statue sits serenely atop a massive pedestal containing an air-conditioned Buddhist museum and meditation hall, decorated with murals illustrating key events from Buddha’s life. Surrounding the monument are beautifully landscaped terraced gardens, serene fountains, and winding paved paths.
Facing Mount Narsing and Mount Kanchenjunga, the atmosphere is profoundly peaceful, with soothing Buddhist chants echoing softly through the mountain breeze.
